Our History

Established in 1984, the Hmong Student Association at California State University, Fresno is the oldest Hmong student-led organization on the West Coast!

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I become an official HmSA member?

To become an official HmSA member, fill out the membership form found on the "Home" or "About" page of this website. Then, bring that form and the $20 club payment to a general meeting, and your name will be recorded onto our roster!

When and where does HmSA have general meetings?

HmSA general meetings take place every Friday from 5pm - 7pm. Meetings are held in the University Student Union (USU) Rooms 312-314.

Why is there a $20 membership fee?

This membership fee covers the cost of the official HmSA tshirt that all registered members receive. 

How can I become an officer?

Attend our 1st general meeting, or contact HmSA on social media with officer inquires. Information will be given out about 2022-2023 officer nominations, and the election process. Open officer positions include: Judicial Chair (2), Culture Chair (2), Education Chair (1), and Fundraiser Chair (2).

How is the officer team organized?

In the Officer team, there are Executive officers, and committee officers. Executive roles include: President, Vice President, Actuary, and Judicial Chairs. There are two positions per committee, and the committee are as follows: CAD, Culture, Education, Fundraiser, and Public Relations.

If I am not an official member, can I still participate?

Yes! Individuals who are not members may participate in HmSA activities. However, these individuals will not gain volunteer hours, nor can they vote on any HmSA meeting decisions or in HmSA elections.

Do I have to be Hmong to join HmSA?

No, not at all! HmSA is not limited to only Hmong students. We welcome individuals of all background to join our Hmong community on campus and learn about our culture! HmSA currently has non-Hmong members and participants.
